Editorial policy
How The Cue Room is written and checked, what it will not publish, and how corrections and commercial questions are handled.
Every entry in this room is written by its own desk, from documents that can be read, and is checked before it is shelved. The entry names the question it answers in its title, gives the answer in its first paragraphs, and lists at the end the sources it actually read.
What is published
Three things are published: the answer to a question about production and library music, the evidence behind it, and the date the entry was last checked. A catalog number is quoted as it is printed. A license clause is quoted with the kind of agreement it belongs to, because blanket terms differ between libraries. A session or a discography entry is published only when a document supports it.
Commercial questions
A library, label or agency that wants to see an entry corrected may send the document that supports the correction, and the same standard applies to it as to any reader. A request to remove an entry because a company dislikes it is not a correction and is not followed.
Corrections
A correction is published in the entry it concerns, with the date, and the sentence that was wrong is replaced rather than quietly deleted. When a source disappears or is revised, the entry is rechecked and its date moves forward; the older reading is kept in the sentence that describes what changed.
